THE CRITERIA AND JUDGING PROCESS

For the sake of transparency to some who thinks we have our own agenda in choosing the winners, I am releasing the Criteria for Judging. If you go through the winners, I think without question, they deserve the honor. We are not just merely a popular contest, people can go to the site and vote for you, but there is a difference between blogging for popularity and money than blogging to inspire people to live better lives. There will be people who will question the process, but I can attest to the veracity of the ranking from the data’s that I received and the result is what it is.

So we are open to critics and doomsayers.

A -  Content                30%

1) contains write-up or articles regarding life abroad and enriches culture and heritage of the Philippines and the Filipino people

2) Inspirational and promotes peace and goodwill

3) Uniqueness –distinct characteristics, issues, concerns discussed, etc.

B – Blog Element       20%

1) Blog is visited and commented (interactivity)

2) Blog is updated regularly (at least monthly)

3) Creativity – lay-out/design, use of graphics, video, etc.

C)Visibility/Metrics    20%

1) Blog is linked with other bloggers and belongs to other bloggers community

2) uses/presence of blog devices (Technorati, Alexa, PageRank, social bookmarks)

3) blog content is searchable

D) Voting/Popularity  20%

E) Judges Vote           10%

Each judge was asked to choose their Top 10 Blogs from among the nominees.

Anyway, I would like to take this opportunity na sabihin that nomination will be open again on April for the 2009 Top 10 Pinoy Expats/OFW Blog Awards. We definitely learn some lessons so valuable so that the next time we will be better na. Hopefully may venue na this December in Manila, at may sponsors na para kahit papaano may monetary prize din. Pero I am sticking to my original belief, it is not the monetary or material things that matters, and it is not what makes a blog and blogger the best. Sharing a part of you, making people happy and having fun while abroad and being recognized is the most important thing. Happiness and Joy, after all, cannot be bought or compensated. It is the free things in life that warms the heart…indi Kape, or Tsaa, Milo, or Gatas…

Look who's talkin. You don't mention the percentage in the first place. Just now you post it because I comnplained. Browse your posts and there is nothing mentioned there or else, you added something there.

Be credible and sensible to your criteria. And lastly, listen to feedbacks because you are not perfect.

Thank you! I certainly missed out mentioning the percentage points in my previous post, and its my mistake.

We have learned valuable lesson, as I said and we will be better the next time.

Thank you for your feedbacks. We are open to critics, because no matter how much we do in this lifetime, we won't be perfect.

I like your criteria.
a blog is supposed to be upbuilding.
a blog is not only for money but must inspire people to do their own blog too.
a blog should be relaxing, enjoyable to read.
a blog should be informative

i won also year 2007 at pinoy bloggers as top five personal category.
I wont mind if theres no money as prize.
just a recognition, that my blog is best in europe, bah, it is really something.

some are annoyed bec their blog didnt win,
not all are lucky, this year, but next year, they might have it, we just improve our blogging skills.

ok, i speak too much.
ps na lang, didnt get my code banner, please email me at

amalia.manta@numericable.fr

and MORE POWER to pinoy expats bloggers,I will be still blogging for next year....

dear kenji,

sige na ilabas na ang criteria, para makita ng buong mundo.

anyways, I hope na lalong mas maraming maki-gulo dito sa award na ito...

by the way as suggested sana may category for OFW at for expats (at this should be well defined para klaro sa mga sasali).

at your service syempre... may utang pa ako to write about my reflection regarding the contest.

Im excited on what will be the outcome of this 2009 award! Good luck... and congrats to the organisers!

I am not much concerned with percents and metrics of blogs criteria. With millions of bloggers and probably thousands of post are published daily on net, it's really a blessing to be part of this Filipino Blog event called PEBA.

While there are other blog award organization which I was also nominated like PBA, I am really pleased that beyond the flat screen I am facing daily, it is amazing that there are great people out there whom I never knew from Adam who suddenly takes notice of my writings.

I agree with Ms. Francesca, I don't mind if PEBA or other blog award giving bodies if they are not giving monetary prizes, what matters to me is that in this borderless world of blogging I was able to relate to my kababayans particularly the Global Filipinos across globe who takes pride of our brown race.

Let us harness our talents and use blogging as a tool to unite the Filipinos worldwide in peace and harmony, maybe we can make a social change to our country.
